Six teachers, three styles, and one rule: the standard in the room is real.

01The problem
Most dance schools are built to make you feel good for an hour. That is a fine business and a bad way to learn. STATIC\MOTION was started by six teachers who wanted the opposite — a room where the standard is real, the corrections are specific, and nobody applauds something that did not work.
02How we teach
Three styles, taught properly: foundation before choreography, lineage before trends. Levels mean something here. Beginner assumes nothing at all. Advanced assumes you have put in the years. You will be told when you are not there yet, and told exactly what to do about it.
03Who it's for
Sixteen to thirty-five, mostly. People who have never danced and people who have danced for a decade, in the same building on the same night. The only thing we screen for is whether you will do the work.
04The room
A concrete floor on the third storey, loud enough to feel in your teeth, in a building that looks like a warehouse because it is one. Come in whatever you can move in. Nobody is watching you. Everybody is watching you. Both are fine.

The rest of it only makes sense standing in the room.
